Goal

Sankofa International, Inc. (Sankofa), in partnership with its sister non-governmental organization (Sankofa Lifeline International), registered in Ghana, will develop the Sankofa Economic Business Center (SEBC) to help needy Africans, living in Africa, become self-sustaining. The project is divided into four phases.

  • Phase 1

Construction of Sankofa Cares Chop Bar (Building 1) plus the training and development of individuals to benefit from the SEBC.

  • Phase 2
Construction of Building 2 to provide additional services to help uplift the people.
  • Phase 3 & Phase 4
Expansion of services through-out Ghana, and then expansion of services through-out Africa.

Phase 1

Phase 1 (Sankofa Cares Chop Bar). Sankofa Cares Chop Bar will provide the following services:

1. Feed Hungry Children for Free. Hungry children will receive a free breakfast and dinner seven days a week. When the Chop Bar is not feeding children for free, the general public can eat for a nominal fee.

A. Feeding the Body. This is the first part (2 meals daily).

B. Feeding the Mind. Since most of these children do not attend school, this part will include, but not be limited, the basics like reading, writing, and math. Also included will be vocational training such as sewing, catering, jewelry making, art, hair, and more so they are able to learn a trade to earn money. Finally, it will include life management workshops, e.g. effective communication, problem solving, decision making, money management, time management, strategic planning, and more.

C. Feeding the Spirit. This part will include the learning and application of God’s Word based on the Christian faith. Using state-of-the-art technology, Pastors and others led by God, in the USA, Ghana, and more, will teach the children through praise and worship, Bible study, Sunday School, and more.

2. Provide Clean Water. For a nominal fee, residents can purchase clean water for bathing and cooking.

3. Bulk Drinks. For a nominal fee, residents can purchase sodas, juices, etc., in bulk, for special large events, e.g. weddings and funerals.

4. Business Center. For a nominal fee, residents can browse the Internet, make photo copies, take passport size photos, recharge equipment, etc.

5. Meetings and Special Events. For a nominal fee, residents can rent meeting and general- purpose rooms to hold events.

6. Life Management Workshops. Sankofa will conduct workshops for Alogboshie and surrounding communities. Some workshops will be free and others will require that a nominal fee be paid.

NOTE: ALL REVENUE, UNDER PHASE 1, WILL BE USED TO SUPPORT CHOP BAR OPERATIONS.
